Pack Creek Bear Viewing -- Independent
Rangers are on-site during July and August, making it safe and easy to go out there on your own.
Pack Creek is a world-class bear viewing location where you can see bear from a viewing area with a panoramic view, or hike up into the forest to a viewing tower. Permits allow for only 24 visitors per day, and those permits are shared between guided trips and independent visits. Since there are rangers on site, it is easy to go without a guide. That also makes it somewhat more affordable.
We take care of everything for you; we reserve USFS permits on your behalf, supply ground transport, flight, boots for beach landing, lunch and briefing on the area and what to expect. This is a custom private trip for your party. As such, you can choose your pickup location, departure time as well as how long you would like to stay out at Pack Creek.
The salmon run starts around the 2nd week of July and goes through early September. Visitors during that time typically see between 8-10 different bear, many with cubs.
